PAF humbuckers

These humbuckers are hand wound to Gibson’s classic double coil pickup specs. They offer a great tone that is clean, sweet and articulate, yet rich and warm, with very good note separation. The great balance, clarity and lower mid drive that P.A.F's are known for.

Magnets:
Alnico V magnets offer a crisp and strong attack, airy top end, smooth mids and plenty of bottom end. Great for all classic rock and blues styles and especially suited for bridge position. 

Alnico II magnets offer a softer attack, sweet and detailed treble response and excellent note separation. The tone is warm and smooth and the low string pull allows for a great natural sustain. Very well suited for jazz, blues playing and archtop guitars.

Alnico IV are stronger than Alnico II and less aggressive than Alnico V. Clear and sweet high end, smooth mids and thight low end. Tone is full, but never harsh or muddy. Excellent dynamics and “flutey” saturations.

Alnico III: lower output of all, the tone is sweet and articulate, with almost an acoustic quality to it. Very controlled bass end and a round top end. Very well suited for jazz, blues playing and archtop guitars.

Our standard matched sets come with Alnico 2 magnets in the neck and Alnico 5 magnets in the bridge. Please indicate in the note field if a different configuration is needed.

Bobbins: black, cream, white or zebra.

Lead Wire: vintage braided 2-leads wires, modern shielded 4 leads wire.

Covers: nickel-silver, nickel or gold plated.

DCR: we can wind the neck from 7.0K–7.8K, and the bridge from 7.6K-8.6K (standard wind is neck 7.4k and bridge 8.0k).
